Beach Radar combines open forecast data (wind, waves, water temperature) from Open-Meteo with two attributes recorded by hand for every beach: the orientation of the shoreline and an index of the bay's natural shelter. From these it computes an estimate of how calm the sea is likely to be.
The score is an indicative estimate of weather conditions. It is not a swimming safety bulletin and does not account for currents, the seabed, water quality, boat traffic or local restrictions. It does not replace the instructions of port authorities and lifeguards, or official weather warnings. Whether you enter the water is your own decision — always check conditions on site.
The data comes from third parties and may be wrong, delayed or unavailable. No guarantee is given as to accuracy, completeness or uninterrupted operation. Information about facilities (sunbeds, tavernas) changes from season to season.
The texts and the beach database of Beach Radar belong to the site's creator. Weather and wave data is provided by Open-Meteo, maps by OpenStreetMap and its contributors, under their respective licences.
