At the southern tip of Sithonia, Kalamitsi forms two small coves with sandy beach. The sea has good depth for swimming and is suitable for snorkeling. There is an organized campsite and a diving center, while the natural protection of the bay is limited.
The beach faces southeast. With northwesterly winds the air flows offshore and the water near the shore stays flat; with southeasterly winds the sea builds up waves onto the beach. The shape of the coastline offers partial shelter, cutting down part of the swell.
