💧 Bathing water quality: excellent (official assessment by the Greek Ministry of Environment, 2025 — monitoring point “Ornos”, 136 m from the beach)
Ornos is one of the most popular family-friendly destinations in Mykonos. Its sandy beach with shallow waters offers safe swimming. The bay is sheltered from the north wind, creating calm sea conditions. Organized facilities with sunbeds and umbrellas are available, while nearby shops provide food and drinks. An ideal choice for a relaxing day by the sea.

The beach faces south. With northerly winds the air flows offshore and the water near the shore stays flat; with southerly winds the sea builds up waves onto the beach. The bay is naturally well sheltered — conditions often remain swimmable even on breezy days.
The shore faces south (190°), so from October to February the sun sets within its field of view, over the water. In the remaining seasons the sunset falls further to the side, over land.
An estimate based on the orientation of the shore — a headland or island opposite may hide the horizon.
Yes — the water deepens gradually, making it one of the better choices for small children.
On days with northerly (offshore) winds or no wind at all. Thanks to the sheltered bay it is one of the safer bets in the area on windy days.
Yes — sunbeds, umbrellas and food options operate during the summer season.
