Stalida beach is located on the northern coast of Heraklion, featuring fine sand and shallow waters that make it family-friendly. It is partially sheltered by the bay, but when the meltemi wind blows, waves rise and caution is needed. Its orientation is northward, with a gentle slope towards the sea.
The beach faces north. With southerly winds the air flows offshore and the water near the shore stays flat; with northerly winds the sea builds up waves onto the beach. The coast is exposed to the open sea, so conditions change quickly with the wind.
