What it is, in three sentences

Beach Radar answers one question: which beach is flat today? It combines wind and wave forecasts with the orientation and natural shelter of each specific shore, producing a 0-100 score that updates through the day. It is free, needs no sign-up and carries no advertising.

How the algorithm works

Two values are recorded by hand for every beach: the direction the shore faces, in degrees, and a 0-1 index of how much its bay shelters it. The forecast wind is resolved into the component perpendicular to the shore; the more head-on it blows, the less the shelter counts. The same is done for wave height. The score follows from the two. No value is processed by AI — it is a deterministic calculation.

• Open-Meteo — wind, waves, sea temperature, UV, sunset time.
• OpenStreetMap — coastline geometry and maps.
• Manual calibration — orientation and shelter index per beach.
